Run The Edge - Mile 1900

Dedicated to Leslie Brown and the Women of GirlTrek Denver,

This year, I committed to a 2,025-mile walking challenge, and I can honestly say—it changed me.

It was a monumental year. Stretching. Transformative. And one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is how important it is to have people in your life who inspire you—especially as Black women. Even when we’re walking our own paths, community is fuel.

I’m approaching the 1,900-mile mark, with the finish line in sight. To reach my goal, I’ll need to average about 25 miles a day. I was on track… until life asked me to pause. My energy dropped, health challenges showed up, and I had to take time to listen to my body and get myself back together.

Truth be told, I was even afraid to look at my mileage for a while—afraid of how far I might have fallen behind while I focused on my health. That pause mattered—and I’m grateful for it.

This challenge completely transformed how I move through my days. Walking five or more miles a day doesn’t happen by accident—it requires intention and focus. You plan your life around it. Now, movement is ingrained in me.

What made the biggest difference was splitting my walks:
🌅 A morning walk of at least 2.5 miles
🌇 A second walk in the early evening to finish strong

Those morning walks? That’s where the magic lives. That’s where clarity shows up. That’s where I found my rhythm.

I’ve always been a wellness advocate—nutrition, movement, and balance have been my foundation—and walking has been my happy place for as long as I can remember. But this journey reminded me of something deeper: you have to surround yourself with people who inspire you to rise, stretch, and become better.

And lastly, I’ve always promised myself that as I reach new seasons in life, I’d take on a cool challenge—something that honors where I’ve been and where I’m going. I used to think it would be a bike ride, miles equal to my years on this planet.  Seventy miles for seventy years.

Turns out, this chapter was about walking—strong, intentional, and unapologetic—one powerful step at a time.

If you’ve been thinking about doing something just for you… consider this your sign.

With Love,

💋Teri
